Table - best surf conditions forecast for Anglet - La Petite Madrague over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for our local stretch.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim. We’ve got a massive gap of small, poor surf ahead. The first chance you’ll even want to paddle out is on the morning of Saturday, July 22nd, and even then it’s not exactly firing.
That Saturday morning, Anglet - La Petite Madrague will see a bit of a pulse. We’re looking at a waist-high swell coming in from the NNW at 4ft, with a period of 7 seconds. The wind will be a light cross-off from the NE, which will keep the surface clean. The combined energy is a moderate 196, which is about the best we’ll see. Still, it’s a beach/jetty setup, so the short period means it won’t have much push. It’s surfable, but it’s not a standout.
The rest of the forecast? Honestly, it’s a write-off. From now until that Saturday, and then again after, we’re looking at tiny, weak waves, onshore winds, and generally poor conditions. There’s a brief moment on the morning of Sunday, July 26th with a glassy offshore breeze from the ESE, but the swell is a pathetic 1ft – not even worth getting the wetsuit on for. The water is currently sitting at a very warm 76°, which is a staggering 7° warmer than usual for this time of year. That’s a weird one.
So, bottom line: if you’re desperate, the morning of Saturday, July 22nd is your only real shot for a very average, clean-ish session. Otherwise, save your energy and wax. It’s a long, flat spell.
Rusty.
