Table - best surf conditions forecast for Praia de Asturias over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the table for Praia de Asturias over the next couple of weeks. Straight up, we are looking at a lot of small, clean windows rather than one big, roaring swell. The water temp is around average for this time of year, nothing wild.
The first few days are pretty mellow. Wednesday the 8th sees some glassy 2ft surf rolling in from the SE with a period of 9 seconds. The energy is moderate (173), but it’s honestly just ordinary. By Thursday morning the 9th, we get another glassy window with a slightly longer period at 11 seconds and a bit more energy (187), but the swell is still tiny. Friday and Saturday mornings offer similar glassy conditions with small, weak waves. We are in a holding pattern of small clean waves.
Now, Sunday morning the 12th is calling for flat calm conditions with 0 wind and a glassy ocean, but again, we are only looking at 2ft of swell. It’s a nice paddle if you just want to bob around.
The true standout here arrives on Tuesday morning the 14th. We finally get a bump in size to 5ft from the SSE, period at 10 seconds, and the combined energy jumps to a solid moderate level (428). The wind is glassy. This is the best we are going to see for a while. The conditions should be expect good surf. The drop-off in the afternoon is a shame with the wind turning onshore, so get it while it’s glassy.
The following Wednesday morning the 15th is still okay with 4ft and glassy conditions, but a bit less energy (276).
The next serious highlight shaping up is on Thursday morning the 16th. Another glassy morning with 4ft of swell from the SSE, a long period of 12 seconds, and very solid moderate energy (405). This will be clean and have some push. A good session, no doubt.
After that, we drop back into the minor stuff for a few days. The last call of note is on Wednesday morning the 22nd. We see a jump back to 5ft swell from the ESE, period at 9 seconds, and a solid moderate energy reading (406) with clean cross-off winds. A couple of promising windows, but still a week and a half out, so treat that as a hopeful sighting.
Overall, the week of the 14th to the 16th is where you want to circle the calendar on. It’s not a world-beater, but for this spot, it’s the cleanest push we’ve got. The rest is small and clean, good for a longboard or a sunset cruise.
Rusty.
