Table - best surf conditions forecast for Praia de Asturias over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at what's coming up for Praia de Asturias. We’ve got a bit of a mixed bag over the next couple of weeks, but there are a few windows where it'll be worth waxing up.
First up, Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th are pretty much a write-off. We’ve got tiny, weak swell and messy wind, so don’t bother. There’s absolutely no juice.
Things start to show a pulse on Monday the 13th, but the conditions are still a bit rough. We’re looking at a bumpy 6ft swell from the S with a short period of 9 seconds, and the combined energy is moderate at 960. It's a bit of a messy, choppy affair – more of a kite-surfing session than a clean paddle session, if you ask me. The wind is light but cross-shore, so don't get your hopes up.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. The standout window is Tuesday morning the 14th and Wednesday morning the 15th. This is the real deal. The wind goes completely glassy off the WNW, and we’ve got a clean 5ft to 5ft swell rolling in from the SSE. The period is a solid 11 seconds, giving it some proper energy – the combined energy Tuesday morning is a solid 582. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so nothing wild there. This is a sheltered spot, so with that glassy surface, it’s going to be clean and fun. The crowd factor is ‘sometimes’, so you might have some company, but it won't be a zoo.
Thursday morning the 16th also looks good with that same glassy calm, 4ft swell and a nice 12-second period. The energy is decent at 540. A great little run if you can sneak out.
After that, we hit a real flat spell from Saturday the 18th all the way through to Thursday the 24th. Tiny swell, junk winds, nothing doing. Just a long, boring stretch of small, weak waves. It’s a typical lull for the area, so don't stress.
However, casting an eye to the long-range, Saturday the 25th is showing some promise. We’ve got a 5ft swell from the SSE with a long 13-second period, so it’ll have some punch. The combined energy is a strong 657. The wind is a clean cross-offshore from the WSW. This is a surfable, solid option, but it's a week and a half out, so keep a loose grip on those hopes. It’s the best bet for the second week.
So, to sum it up: forget the first weekend. Hit it hard Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings this coming week for the cleanest surf. Then it goes dead, with a possible return to form around Saturday the 25th.
Rusty.
