Table - best surf conditions forecast for Praia de Asturias over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk it out. It’s a quiet stretch for Praia de Asturias, no two ways about it. The first real chance to get wet doesn’t come until Tuesday morning, July 14th. Before that, Monday the 13th is a total washout with rain showers and a messy cross-shore breeze chopping up some weak, short-period junk. Not worth it.
Tuesday morning the 14th, we finally get a little something. Wind shifts to a light offshore from the west, cleaning up a 4ft swell from the SSE with a 10-second period. The combined energy is low—only 302—so it’s small and weak, but it’s rideable. Water temp is about normal for this time of year. Tuesday afternoon the wind turns cross-shore and the quality drops.
Wednesday morning the 15th is the real highlight of the first week. Glassy conditions—wind from the NNE at just 3 mph—and a 4ft SE swell with an 11-second period. The energy is still modest (321), but with that glassy surface, it’ll be clean and fun. For a beginner-friendly beach and reef setup, this is about as good as it gets in this run. The swell direction is from the SE, but this spot likes it from the east, so it’s not a perfect match, but the offshore wind makes up for it. Crowds can show up, so get in early.
Thursday morning the 16th is similar—small 4ft SE swell, glassy, period 11 seconds—but the energy is a bit lower (323). Still worth a look.
From Friday the 17th through the 21st, it’s a steady fade. Swell drops below 3ft, periods shorten, and the wind turns cross-on or onshore most days. Not much to write home about—just tiny, weak waves and choppy conditions.
Then comes a tease on the 22nd and 23rd. Wednesday the 22nd shows a clean cross-off wind from the SW, but the swell is only 3ft to 3ft with a long period (14 seconds) from the SSE. The energy picks up to 210, but it’s still small. Thursday the 23rd morning goes glassy again with a 4ft SE swell, 8-second period—energy 242. It’s clean, but the short period means weaker, mushier waves.
Now, the real promise—and I mean a proper standout—is Sunday, July 26th. This is more than a week away, so keep that in mind, but it’s the best looking day in the whole forecast. Sunday morning we’ve got a 5ft swell from the SSE with a 13-second period, and a strong cross-off wind from the WSW at 19 mph. The combined energy hits 1084—that’s moderate to strong energy. Clean conditions. Sunday afternoon bumps up to 6ft from the SSE, period 15 seconds (very long-period groundswell), and energy 1411. That’s a proper pulse. The wind stays cross-off and clean. Thing is, with that long period and a beach and reef setup, it might look a bit straight and close out sometimes, but for a point break or reef, that’s dreamy. For beginners, 5ft to 6ft is getting on the bigger side—might be a handful. For experienced surfers, this is the session to circle.
Monday the 27th gets ruined by onshore wind and rain, so don’t sleep on Sunday.
Overall, the best bet is Wednesday morning the 15th for clean, small waves, and Sunday the 26th for size and power. Otherwise, it’s a long flat spell with a few mediocre windows.
