local from New Zealand
“Years ago the river used to get dredged and as a result morgo and the river were really good surf breaks. These days the river doesn't break anymore and morgo has big waiting periods between surfs. The swell is either too small, no banks or onshore. Best season is spring and autumn, best swell SW or W and best offshore is SE, better than anything from the N. Summer good for swimming or fishing. Morgo gets crowded when there's a wave and half the locals don't travel so they act like they own the place, even the boogers. Winter can be good on its day and you no it's winter at morgo with the river next door. The saying "should have been here yesterday"...for morgo is now "should have been here 10 to 15 years ago"..that's when it pumped”
