The Lowdown
Alright, grab your board. Let’s talk about what’s on the cards for Praia da Boraceia. The next couple of days are pretty flat and uninspiring, honestly. You’re looking at some small, weak, junky waves through Thursday and Friday. The energy just isn’t there for anything decent. It’s a bit of a waiting game.
The first real window of opportunity kicks off on Saturday, the 22nd. It’s not huge, but things start to clean up a bit. The swell picks up to around 4ft, coming from the south, and it’s glassy in the morning. It’s a start. The energy is moderate at 333, which is way better than what we’ve seen. Sunday’s a bit messier with onshore wind, so that’s a bit of a write-off.
But here’s where it gets interesting. The real standout is the Tuesday the 25th. That morning, the stars align. The swell pushes up to 6ft from the SSE, with a long-period groundswell at 14 seconds. The wind is calm, dead glassy. The energy is pumping at 1431, which is strong. This is the day for experienced surfers, for sure. Water temp is pretty much normal for this time of year, so just a spring suit should be fine.
That long period swell is going to make the waves at Praia da Boraceia (São Paulo) hold up nicely. After that, the energy drops off, but Wednesday the 26th morning still has some good, clean waves at around 4ft with a nice offshore wind. The following days drop off in size, hovering around 2-3ft, but they stay clean and glassy for the most part. The finale of the good stuff is the following Friday afternoon, the 28th, with some clean waves, and then it fades out into the end of the period. The weekend after that looks poor, but that first half of the second week is where the magic is.
So, if you want it, Saturday is the warm-up, and Tuesday the 25th is the one to clear your calendar for.
