Praia da Boraceia Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Praia da Boraceia over the next couple of weeks.

We're starting off with a bit of a flat spell, to be honest. The first few days, from Tuesday the 21st through to Thursday the 23rd, are pretty ordinary. We're looking at tiny 2ft to 2ft waves with a short period of 8 seconds, coming from the ESE. The energy is weak, in the 50-90 range, so it's just not going to offer much push. The wind is light and offshore or glassy at times, which is a nice sight, but there's just no swell behind it to make it worthwhile for a paddle.

Now, things start to get interesting on Friday the 24th. We get a real pulse of energy from the south, with swell jumping to 5ft and a period of 10 seconds. The combined energy jumps right up to 397, which is a solid moderate kick. The best part? Friday morning has a light offshore wind from the west, keeping it clean, and Friday afternoon turns completely glassy with calm conditions. The water temp is sitting at a very normal 68°, so nothing out of the ordinary there. This is the standout window – clean, punchy, and fun. Saturday the 25th keeps the goods rolling with 4ft swell from the SSE, 9-second period, and a glassy morning. The energy is still strong at 246. The Saturday afternoon gets a bit of a cross-on breeze, but the morning session is the one to nail.

After that, we get a bit of a mixed bag. Sunday the 26th sees the swell drop back to 2ft, but the period stretches out to 14 seconds, which gives a long-period groundswell feel. The energy is still decent at 342, but the cross-on wind from the SW makes it a bit bumpy. Monday the 27th morning is worth a look though – glassy conditions with that 2ft, 12-second swell from the south. The energy is still moderate at 255, so it'll have some push, but it's a long period, so it might break a bit straight on the beach. For a point or reef, it'd be magic, but here it's a bit of a caveat.

From Tuesday the 28th right through to Thursday the 30th of July, we're back into small, ordinary surf. Waves are 1.0ft to 2ft, periods are short, and the energy is dropping. It's a real lull.

Then, on Saturday the 1st of August, the forecast throws a bit of a curveball. The swell jumps up to 6ft from the ESE, but with a short period of just 7 seconds. The combined energy is a massive 507, which is strong, but it's a windswell. The wind is a cross-on breeze, making it choppy and messy. The Sunday the 2nd of August is a better bet – glassy conditions with a 4ft swell from the ESE, period of 8 seconds, and moderate energy at 307. That's a solid, clean morning session.

After that, from Monday the 3rd of August onwards, the surf fades out again, with small, weak waves and some onshore winds messing things up. The last couple of days shown are a write-off for a paddle.

So, to wrap it up: the absolute best on offer is Friday morning, July 24th. That 5ft south swell, clean offshore wind, and good energy is your best bet. Saturday morning, July 25th is a close second, with a glassy start and a solid 4ft swell. Don't sleep on Sunday morning, August 2nd either – that's a promising, clean session in the second week, but it's a bit further out, so keep an eye on the forecasts.
