The Lowdown
G'day, this is Rusty. Alright, let's be straight with you – the next few days at Praia da Boraceia are a bit of a write-off. We're looking at a pretty flat and ugly start, so don't bother rushing down. The water is sitting at 71°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least it won't be freezing while you're sitting there waiting for something to happen.
We've got a big gap of nothing until Thursday, 3rd September. That morning, the stars finally align a little. The swell will be a clean 4 ft from the SSE, with a period of 10 seconds, and the wind is glassy out of the east. The wave energy is moderate at 317. It's not pumping, but it'll be surfable and clean – a good session for a beginner to intermediate.
The real standout, the one you want to circle on the calendar, is Monday, 14th September. That morning, we see a solid 7 ft swell from the ESE with an 8-second period. The energy is strong at 995. The wind is dead calm, glassy, and the conditions are set to be very good. This is a punchy, powerful swell, and with no wind, it'll be a proper session. It's a bit on the bigger side, so this one is for the experienced crew only – beginners will be in over their heads. The long-range call is promising, but we'll see how it firms up.
Outside of that, the rest of the window is a mix of small, weak, or choppy conditions. There's a brief window on Tuesday, 8th September, with a 3 ft S swell and glassy winds, but it's nothing special. The empty periods are long, but this spot is fairly consistent, so don't be surprised if things pick up again.
