Table - best surf conditions forecast for Praia da Boraceia over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk about Praia da Boraceia. The first real chance to get wet is Thursday morning, July 9th. The water’s 69°F, which is dead average for this time of year. We’ve got a clean 3ft S swell, glassy calm, and the energy is moderate (283). The wave period is 11 seconds, so it’s a nice groundswell with a bit of shape. It’s small, perfect for a beginner, and you might see a few other folks out. The afternoon goes cross-on and drops off, so hit it early.
Friday the 10th starts with a clean offshore NNW breeze, but the swell is only 2ft with a very long 14-second period – that’s gonna be a bit straight and slow on a beach break, but a longboarder will have a time. The energy is weak (167). The real standout is Friday afternoon, when it goes glassy again with a 3ft SE swell, 13-second period, and energy hits 235 – that’s a clean, sweet little window.
Saturday the 11th morning is the best of the first week. Glassy flat calm, 3ft of SE swell with a 13-second period, and energy at 349 (moderate). The swell direction is right on the money from the SSE. Crowds are possible, but it’s a small, clean gem. The afternoon gets a cross-on wind, so dawn patrol is the move.
Sunday the 12th morning has a clean offshore N wind, 3ft SE swell, 12-second period, energy 258 – another tidy, small session. Light rain in the afternoon messes things up, so morning is the call.
Monday the 13th sees the swell bump to 4ft in the morning, but it’s a short 8-second period and a cross-on wind – that’s messy, weak energy (333). The afternoon gets a 5ft S swell with a 12-second period and energy jumps to 607 (moderate to strong), but it’s still cross-on. It’s a grinder.
From Tuesday the 14th through Wednesday the 15th, you get some glassy mornings, with 4ft and 4ft swells, but the periods drop to 8 and 9 seconds, so it’s windswell-y and weak (energy 239 and 250). Surfable, but ordinary.
Then comes a long, flat spell. From Thursday the 16th July all the way to Wednesday the 23rd July, the swell stays tiny, under 3ft, with short periods of 8-9 seconds, and energy is weak (mostly under 200). The mornings are often offshore and clean, but the waves are just too small. It’s a real drought.
Finally, on Thursday the 24th July, the afternoon shows a jump to 6ft of S swell, with a short 8-second period, but the energy is strong (828). The wind is cross-on from the SSW, so it’ll be bumpy. At 6ft, it’s getting into expert territory, and the short period means it’ll be lumpy. It’s the biggest push of the 16 days, but it’s a long way out and a bit messy.
Rusty.
