The Lowdown
G'day, Rusty here, checking in on the local surf scene. Let's be straight with you, it's been a bit of a flat spell and it's gonna hang around for a while. We're looking at a long stretch of small, weak surf with next to no energy. Most of what's coming through is just too small to get excited about.
The first real chance to get wet doesn't roll in until Friday the 14th of August. We're talking about Praia de Camburi. It's a sheltered beginner-friendly spot, and the water temp is sitting right on average for this time of year at 73°. The early morning on the 14th will see a tiny 2ft swell from the SSE, with a clean look and a light offshore breeze. The wave energy is weak though, only coming in at 125. It's surfable, but it's very ordinary.
That little bump fades out, and we're back into a flat spell until the following week. The next real action starts to show late on Sunday the 16th. The standout window kicks off on Sunday afternoon. Praia de Camburi will see a jump in size to 7ft of short-period swell (8 seconds) from the ESE. The wind is offshore, keeping it clean, and the wave energy is strong at 1129. This is for experienced surfers only, as it's well overhead and pretty powerful.
Monday the 17th offers a solid follow-up. The morning will have a 7ft swell from the ESE with a light offshore breeze, making for clean, punchy waves. The energy is still strong at 897. This is a good one for the crew who know what they're doing.
After that, the surf settles back down. The 19th of August has a few more options with 6ft swell from the E and clean conditions in the morning, but the energy starts to drop. By the end of the week, we're back to small, weak waves.
So, if you're chasing a wave, save your energy for the 16th and 17th of August. That's your best bet. The rest of the time, it's a waiting game.
