The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Praia de Camburi is dishing up over the next couple of weeks. I gotta be straight with you – the first week and a half is a tough slog. We're looking at a long, flat, and messy run from Wednesday the 2nd right through to late on the 10th, with hardly anything worth paddling out for. The winds are all over the shop and the swell just isn't there with any quality. The water temp here is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
It's not until Thursday morning, the 10th of September, that we finally see a glimmer of hope. The morning kicks off with a clean, 5ft east swell at 7 seconds, and a light offshore breeze from the NE. The wave energy is moderate at 423. Then things get real interesting in the afternoon when that wind drops to a glassy calm. The swell bumps up to 6ft from the east, and with that glassy surface, it’s gonna be looking clean as a whistle. The combined energy is up to 746 then, which is a solid step up, but the period is still short at 7 seconds, so those waves will be a bit fat and crumbly.
Now, the true standout, the one you've been waiting for, is Friday the 11th. The morning is already decent with a clean 6ft east swell (459 energy) and light offshore winds. But the real magic happens Friday afternoon. We get a 8ft east swell with a period of 9 seconds, cranking out a strong wave energy of 1300. The wind is a light cross-offshore from the NNE, which means it’s gonna be clean with some push. That's the biggest, most powerful swell of the whole run, so for the experienced heads, that afternoon session is your window. The crowd factor here at Praia de Camburi is just "sometimes", so you might have a bit of company but it won't be a zoo.
Saturday the 12th holds on with some fun waves too, a clean 5ft east swell in the morning (630 energy) and a moderate offshore, but the period is still that short 9 seconds. The afternoon gets a bit mushy with a 6ft swell, but the energy is still high at 987, and it stays clean.
After that, we drop back into smaller, less exciting conditions from Sunday the 13th onward. There's a small window on the 15th with glassy conditions and a 4ft east swell, but it's pretty ordinary. The final call on the 16th has a 6ft SSW windswell with a short 7-second period and cross-offshore winds, so it's surfable but nothing special.
So, to wrap it up: the first 8 days are a write-off. Your best bet is absolutely Friday the 11th, afternoon. Get on it.
Rusty.
