The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for the coming stretch.

It's gonna be a quiet run for a while. The first proper window to get wet doesn't really show up until Tuesday, 15 September, and even then it's just ordinary conditions. You're looking at a gap of a couple of days with nothing worth paddling out for before that. The pattern is small, inconsistent, and mostly clean but weak. The standout moment is later in the week, on Friday, 18 September, and the early part of the following week.

Praia de Camburi is your only spot. The water temp is sitting at 73°, which is just about average for this time of year, nothing weird there.

The first day that even registers is Tuesday, 15 September. The afternoon shows a bit of easterly swell at 3 ft with an 8-second period, but the combined energy is only moderate at 205. The wind is offshore though, so it'll be clean. It's surfable but pretty ordinary.

Wednesday, 16 September is a write-off with onshore winds and poor surf.

Thursday, 17 September is no better. That SE swell bumps up to 4 ft in the morning and 3 ft in the afternoon, but with a short 8-second period and cross-onshore winds, it's choppy and messy.

Friday, 18 September is where it gets interesting. The morning is glassy with a 2 ft SSE groundswell at 11 seconds. Combined energy is moderate at 179. Then the afternoon cleans up with a light offshore wind, dropping to 2 ft but the period holds at 11 seconds and the energy stays at 183. That longer period means the waves will have better shape, though it's small. This is the best window of the whole forecast.

Saturday, 19 September morning sees a 3 ft easterly swell at a short 6 seconds, with a clean offshore NNE breeze. Combined energy hits 204. It's not great, but it's rideable. The afternoon fades fast.

Sunday, 20 September starts clean with a 2 ft SE swell at 12 seconds – that longer period helps – but the wind picks up strong from the NE at 19 mph, making it a fresh offshore. It's clean but windy, and the energy is moderate at 194.

From Monday, 21 September through to the end of the month, it's mostly tiny, clean, and forgettable. The 25th has a glassy morning with a 4 ft easterly swell at 7 seconds, and the combined energy hits 284 – the highest in the run. But the period is short and the quality is described as very ordinary. Still, if you're desperate, that morning glass-off might be your last decent chance.

So, bottom line: If you're looking for the one to aim for, make it Friday, 18 September – the afternoon session. Small, but clean with a touch of period on it. Or the morning of the 25th for the biggest, glassiest swell of the run, even if it's a bit short-period and ordinary. Everything else is either too small, too windy, or too choppy.

Stay patient, keep an eye on the charts.

Rusty.
