The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for Praia de Camburi over the next couple of weeks.
Alright mate, the honest truth is this sixteen-day window is looking pretty flat and ordinary for the most part. There are no real standout, epic days on the cards. We’ve got a bit of a wait for the first proper surf, so don’t get too excited just yet.
The first whiff of anything worthwhile comes in on Saturday the 15th of August. Saturday morning looks like the pick of the entire forecast. We’ve got a clean 4ft swell coming from the SSE with a long period of 14 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell, bringing some decent energy in (combined energy of 626). The wind is a light offshore (ESE) keeping it clean, and with Praia de Camburi being a sheltered beginner friendly break, that should work out nicely. It's fairly consistent here, and you might share it with a few others, but it'll be worth the paddle out.
Saturday afternoon drops off a bit with a cross-on wind at 5ft, and Sunday is a bit of a mixed bag with a short period, weak 4ft swell that loses its shape. Monday the 17th of August has a bit more size, with the morning showing a clean 5ft east swell and a nice offshore wind (NE). The energy is moderate (478) but it’s got a short period of 7 seconds, so it’ll be a bit funkier and less organised. It’s not a bad session if you’re happy to pick up the inconsistent lumps.
The rest of the week into the second week is a write-off. From Tuesday the 18th all the way through to the Friday the 28th of August, the swell drops right off, with waves mostly below 1ft. The energy levels are pathetic and the wind is mostly howling offshore. It’s going to be a long, dry stretch. There’s a tiny blip on the 27th of August with a glassy 2ft SSE swell and weak energy (104), but that’s barely a ripple. Then we get to the 29th of August, which shows a little promise with a clean 4ft SE swell and offshore wind, but it’s still pretty ordinary. The crowds will be low because no one’s bothering.
Honestly, for this stretch, the only morning that is truly worth your time is Saturday the 15th. Get on it early and you’ll get the cleanest, most fun waves on offer.
Rusty.
