Alright, let’s get the imperial picture for Praia de Camburi.
The first few days are a total loss. Sunday the 5th and Monday the 6th, the waves are tiny and the wind is onshore junk. Wave energy is weak at 289. Don’t bother.
Tuesday the 7th morning finally gives us a chance – a clean 3ft swell out of the southeast with a light cross-offshore north wind. It’s only "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions," but it’s a start. Water temp is about 75°, right where it should be for this time of year.
The middle of the week (the 8th, 9th) is back to choppy, messy conditions.
Then, Friday the 10th morning – bingo! This is the first standout. A clean 4ft groundswell from the east-southeast, with a long 14-second period and a light cross-offshore breeze. The energy is 461 (moderate), and the call is "expect good surf conditions." This is your best bet for the first week. That long period (14s) will give you some nice lines, but on a beach break, it might not hollow out.
The weekend (11th and 12th) is small but clean, nothing special. The 13th is tiny.
Then we hit a long flat spell from the 14th through the 18th. Swell drops to 1ft on some days, and the period gets as low as 5 seconds. Even a glassy day on the 16th only has 1ft waves. It’s a kiteboarding lull for nearly a week.
Hold up, Sunday the 19th is where it’s at. Sunday morning brings a thumping 7ft southeast swell with a clean cross-offshore north wind. Energy hits 733 (moderate-to-strong). That’s the biggest swell of the whole outlook. At 7ft, it’s too big for beginners, but the experienced crew will be all over it. The period is only 8 seconds, so it’ll be a bit bumpy and wind-affected, but it’s the clear winner in terms of size. The afternoon stays clean with a fresh offshore, but the swell drops to 5ft.
Monday the 20th afternoon has a 4ft southeast swell with a very long 15-second period and a moderate offshore wind. That’s a proper, powerful groundswell, but the combined energy is 654 (moderate), and it’s only "marginal."
Bottom Line: Your two windows are Friday morning the 10th for a clean, long-period swell, and Sunday morning the 19th for the biggest, most powerful swell of the bunch. Expect a dead stretch with next to nothing from the 14th through the 18th.
