The Lowdown
Alright, let’s talk Camburi.
The next 16 days are looking pretty grim for this spot. Most of it is flat, messy, or just not worth the hassle.
Tuesday the 11th kicks off with a weak 3ft SSE swell, but a 15 mph south cross-on wind makes it choppy and poor. That afternoon sees the swell jump to 5ft from the south, but again it’s cross-on and ugly.
Wednesday the 12th is more of the same – small SSE swell with light cross-on wind. By the afternoon, the wind turns light cross-off from the ESE at 9 mph, and the waves clean up, but they’re only 3ft. Surfable but nothing special. Thursday the 13th morning is your first real chance: a 3ft SE groundswell with a 13-second period and clean conditions under a light north cross-off breeze. Small but clean.
Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th are tiny again (3ft), with clean conditions but weak energy. Sunday the 16th through Wednesday the 19th is mostly flat or ankle-high with onshore winds and chop. Skip it.
The standout is Saturday the 22nd. A 4ft S swell with a 10-second period shows up, and the morning is glassy – light east wind at 3 mph. The combined energy is moderate. That’s the best wave of the window. Clean, glassy, fun. The afternoon stays clean with an offshore wind, but it picks up to 15 mph.
After that, it’s back to tiny swells and fresh offshore winds through to the 26th.
So, bottom line: if you want a paddle, Saturday the 22nd morning is your only real window. Camburi is a beginner-friendly, sheltered break, and with that glassy start, it’ll be your best shot. Crowds can pop up sometimes. Water temp is about average for the season.
Otherwise, it’s a long, flat, and frustrating stretch. Not much to get excited about.
Rusty.
