The Lowdown
Alright, mate, let’s talk about Praia de Camburi. The first solid surf I see in the window doesn’t kick in until Monday the 8th, so expect a bit of a flat spell right through the start of the period.
The best of the bunch looks to be Tuesday the 8th, morning. We’ve got a bit of swell coming through here – around 5ft from the ESE, with a short period of 7 seconds. That short period means the waves won’t have a ton of power, but the conditions are clean with a light cross-offshore breeze. The combined energy of all swells directed here is moderate at 531, so there’s enough push to get a few fun ones. Praia de Camburi is a sheltered, beginner-friendly spot and the optimum swell direction is S, so this ESE swell is a little off-angle, but it should still wrap in enough to offer some small, manageable lines. The water temperature is about average for this time of year, so no need to worry about a wetsuit unless you run cold.
The other standout is Thursday the 10th, afternoon. The swell picks up a bit more energy here – 6ft from the E, again short period at 8 seconds, but the wind is offshore from the NE at 12 mph, keeping things clean. The combined energy jumps to 432, which is solid moderate. This is probably the best session of the whole window for a surfer who wants a little more push. The wind is offshore, so the waves will hold shape well. Crowds are sometimes an issue here, so you might have a few others out, but it’s not a zoo.
For the rest of the week, conditions are mostly ordinary. The morning of Sunday the 13th is worth a mention – it’s glassy, with a light 4ft E swell at 9 seconds, and the combined energy is 283. That’s a decent window for a quiet paddle, especially if you want clean, small waves with no wind. But overall, the surf is marginal for the most part.
After the 14th, the swell fades out fast. The last week of the window is mostly flat, with tiny waves and fresh offshore winds, so nothing to get excited about. The combined energy drops to the low double digits, and the swell heights are down to 0.7ft to 1ft. It’s a wrap for the forecast period.
Bottom line: mark your calendar for Tuesday the 8th morning and Thursday the 10th afternoon – those are your best shots for a proper surf at Praia de Camburi.
