The Lowdown
Alright, let's talk surf for this next stretch.
It's all about Praia de Camburi here. This is a beginner-friendly, sheltered little nook that really comes alive when the swell is from the south. The water temp? Nothing strange, right about average for the time of year. The first few days are a total write-off—windy, messy, poor conditions. Don't bother paddling out until later.
On Wednesday afternoon the 15th, you finally get a clean window. A 1.4m south-east swell with an 11-second period shows up. The wind goes clean, and the combined energy sits at a moderate 466. This is your first real chance.
But the absolute pick is Thursday the 16th. The morning is pure glass, with a whisper of a breeze from the northeast. The waves are a clean 1.4m from the southeast with that same nice 11-second period. Energy is solid at 431. That's your dawn patrol moment. The afternoon stays good with a light offshore breeze. There might be some company in the water, but it'll be worth it.
Friday the 17th keeps the run alive. Clean 1 to 1.4m east-south-east swell all day with offshore and cross-off winds. Energy in the 430-455 range. Good, fun waves for a few days straight.
After that, the size drops. Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th have smaller, 1.0m waves with weaker energy down to 130-217. Light winds, so it's clean, but very average.
Then comes a real dry spell. From Monday the 20th through Thursday the 24th, it's mostly flat or poor with tiny, weak swell. Combined energy dips into double digits on some days. A tough stretch to find a ride.
Friday the 24th morning has a glimmer—glassy conditions with a 1.2m south-south-east swell, but it's a short 6-second period and feels ordinary. The afternoon gets a bit bigger at 1.5m but still short.
In the second week, Saturday the 25th morning shows some promise. A 1.6m east-south-east swell arrives with a light breeze and combined energy of 448. It's the best of the late period, but it's a long way off, so don't bet the farm on it yet.
If you want the best chance at a clean, fun wave, your best bet is to paddle out on Thursday morning the 16th. That's the one.
