The Lowdown

Alright, let’s see what we’ve got here. To be straight up with you, the next couple of weeks are looking flat and pretty average for Praia de Camburi. The first solid recommendation doesn't roll around until Monday the 14th, and even then, it's nothing to write home about. We’re looking at a long, quiet run here.

The water’s sitting at about 73°, which is pretty much what you’d expect for this time of year – nothing weird going on there.

So, for that Monday morning (14th September), we get a complete glass-off – dead calm, zero wind. The swell is a meagre 3ft coming from the east with a short 8-second period. The combined energy is moderate at best (116). It’s clean, but tiny and weak. It’s really just a paddle around. By the afternoon, a gentle offshore breeze from the ENE kicks in, cleaning it up a little more, but the waves remain very ordinary.

Tuesday the 15th is a bit of a repeat: glassy morning with 3ft easterly swell (7-second period, combined energy 164) and a clean offshore breeze in the afternoon. Again, surfable but nothing that’ll get your heart racing.

Wednesday the 16th sees the wind swing onshore from the south, making things choppy and messy. This poor quality hangs around for a few days, with a mix of onshore wind and barely any size.

We get glimpses of hope on Friday the 18th morning, with a glassy 2ft SSE swell (11-second period, combined energy 167). It’s clean, but the size is just not there. Saturday the 19th has a similar story, with a little more energy (179) but still very small.

Now, there is one standout in the whole 16-day window. It’s on Friday the 25th of September. Early morning we see a jump in swell – 3ft from the SSE with a very long 17-second period. The combined energy is strong at 673. The wind will be a light cross-shore from the SE. It’s described as marginal due to tricky tide conditions, but that long period groundswell has some serious push. For a beach break like Praia de Camburi, that long period can make it a bit straight, but if you pick your bank, there could be some proper bombs. The afternoon sees it bump up to 4ft (energy 782). This is the best on offer, but it’s a full 13 days away, so keep an eye on it – long-range, less certain.

The following Saturday (26th) morning has a glassy 3ft SSE swell (15-second period, energy 379) which is okay, but again, pretty ordinary.

Honestly, from now until late September, there are no days that scream “go now”. It’s small, it’s inconsistent, and the quality is low. This blank run is a bit of a normal thing for the area when the swell windows are this narrow.

Stay patient, keep checking the charts. Forecasts can change.
