The Lowdown
G'day, Rusty here, checking out the next 16 days for Praia de Camburi. To be honest, it's a pretty quiet stretch, but there's one solid window that's worth your time.
Right now, it's flat. The swell is tiny, only about 1ft from the SE with a long period of 15 seconds, and the combined swell energy is weak (86). The wind is a moderate cross-offshore on Sunday morning, but the waves are just too small. It's a frustrating start, and the whole first week is pretty ordinary. The water temperature is about average for the season.
We get a little bump on Tuesday, 11th August, with the swell pushing to 3ft, but it's messy with a cross-onshore wind and the energy is moderate (628). Still not worth it.
The real standout, the only day I'd mark on the calendar, is Sunday, 16th August. The swell jumps up to 6ft from the ESE. The period is short at 8 seconds, but the combined swell energy is strong (802). The wind is offshore from the ENE in the afternoon, and cross-offshore in the morning, keeping things clean. This is the best on offer, and for a beginner-friendly spot like Praia de Camburi, this is a great little window. It's not huge, but it's clean and surfable.
After that, the swell drops back to 5ft on Monday, 17th August, with a moderate offshore wind, but the energy drops off (311). The rest of the second week fades out, with the swell getting smaller and the wind turning onshore. There's a brief moment on Monday, 24th August, with 3ft swell and glassy conditions, but it's just a small glimpse.
So, in summary: wait for that Sunday, 16th August. The rest is a bust. Keep an eye on the forecast, though; it often turns around quickly.
