Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Praia de Camburi over the next couple of weeks.
The forecast kicks off on Friday, 3rd July, and to be honest, it’s a pretty ordinary start. The swell is small, around 4ft to 4ft from the east with a 9-second period, and the combined wave energy is moderate at best (201 to 252). The wind is offshore on Friday afternoon, which is a positive, but the conditions are so average that it’s hard to get excited. The water temperature is 75°, which is about normal for the time of year – nothing unusual there.
Saturday morning, 4th July, is actually a bit of a standout early on. We’ve got glassy conditions, no wind at all, and a clean 3ft east swell, period 9 seconds, with 193 energy. For a beginner-friendly spot like this, that’s a nice little window for a paddle. It’s small and gentle, but glassy is golden. Crowds are possible here sometimes, so you might have company.
Sunday, 5th July, drops right off. The swell shrinks to 2ft–2ft, periods get longer but the wind turns onshore, and it’s honestly not worth getting wet. The same story continues through Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – small, messy, onshore winds, or just poor conditions. There’s a brief glimpse of clean conditions Tuesday afternoon with offshore wind, but the swell is only 3ft and the energy is still moderate (226). It’s surfable but nothing to write home about.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Thursday morning, 9th July, is the real standout of this whole outlook. We’ve got glassy conditions again, calm wind, and a 4ft swell from the southeast with an 11-second period – that’s a nice long-period groundswell. The combined energy jumps to 447, which is solid moderate energy, and the water is clean. This is the best session on offer. For a sheltered spot like Praia de Camburi, that glassy, longer-period swell is going to deliver clean, well-shaped waves. If you can get out there Thursday morning, do it.
Friday, 10th July, is clean but small – 2ft to 2ft – and not worth chasing. Saturday afternoon, 11th July, has an offshore wind and a 4ft swell from the southeast with a 13-second period and 414 energy, which is promising, but it’s a long-range call and less certain. After that, the tail end of the forecast is small, choppy, or onshore. There’s a few glassy or offshore moments on the 17th and 18th, but the swell is tiny (2ft–2ft) and the energy is low to moderate. It’s not a total washout, but you’d be scratching for a ride.
Overall, Thursday morning 9th July is your best bet – glassy, clean, and a proper swell. Saturday afternoon 11th July is worth watching, but it’s a week and a half away, so don’t bank on it. The rest? Small and ordinary, with a few clean windows for a beginner session.
Stay safe, and I’ll see you in the water.
Rusty.
