Alright, let’s take a look at what’s cookin’. For Praia de Camburi, it’s a long, skinny stretch ahead.

We’ve got a flat spell that drags on for a solid week. The swell is tiny, combined energy numbers mostly in the double digits — 16, 26, 36 — and not even hitting triple digits until about the 10th. The wind is often offshore, but the swell is too small and short period to ride. Honestly, for the first week you’re better off on a kite with those afternoon breezes.

The first real pulse comes on Tuesday the 11th of August: swell from the S at 5ft, 14 seconds, combined energy jumps to 1141 — moderate energy. But the wind is onshore from the SW, making it lumpy. For a beginner spot, 5ft is at the top end of what’s comfortable.

There’s a small window on the morning of the 13th of August. Glassy conditions, 0.7ft but with a long 12-second period from the SE, combined energy at 227. The water temp is about 73°F, just about average for the season. It’s clean but small. Not a day to tell your buddies about.

The morning of the 14th of August is also glassy — 0.7ft SSE groundswell at 11 seconds, 167 combined energy. Clean, but you’re still scratching for a ride.

The best of the whole forecast is Sunday the 16th of August. The morning and afternoon both have clean cross-off winds from the ESE and E, combined energy at 635 in the morning and 494 in the afternoon. Swell is 3ft from the SSE with a 13 to 14-second period. That’s proper groundswell. Crowds can show up sometimes, but it’ll be worth it. The waves will have good shape, long gaps between sets, and it’s all within a safe range for intermediates. This is the pick of the fortnight.

Monday the 17th of August also has clean cross-off winds, 5ft from the ESE but the period drops to 8 seconds — short-period, less shape. Combined energy is still 413 in the morning, and the report says “expect good surf conditions.”

Then on the 18th of August, there’s a 5ft E swell at 9 seconds, combined energy at 694. It’s a marginal call with moderate cross-off wind. Might be a fun session for stronger surfers, but for beginners, 5ft is a bit much.

Really, the only standout session is Sunday the 16th. The rest of the 16 days is quiet, then small, then ordinary. But this break is fairly consistent, so it’s not unusual to get a blank run. Forecasts can always shift.
