The Lowdown
Alright, let’s get into it. Right now, it’s a bit of a flat spell at Praia de Camburi. The first few days are pretty ordinary – small, weak swell with short period and light winds, but nothing to get excited about. The water’s sitting at 73°, which is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The first real standout comes on Wednesday, August 26th. The morning has a solid 6 ft swell from the east, with a combined energy of 472 – that’s moderate wave energy and it’s the biggest push we’ll see. Winds are light and cross-offshore, so the waves should be clean and well-shaped. It’s a little on the bigger side for beginners, but for anyone with a bit of experience, this is the best on offer. The afternoon stays fun with 5 ft and offshore winds, though the period is short, so it’ll be a bit soft.
After that, things fade again. The 27th and 28th have some surfable waves but nothing special – small east swell, offshore winds, but the energy is low. Then from the 29th onward, it’s pretty much a write-off. Tiny swell, long periods, and mostly cross-onshore winds that kill the shape. The 31st has a long-period swell from the south-southeast hitting 18 seconds, but the swell height is only 3 ft and the energy is low, so it’s not going to offer much.
Overall, the best window is Wednesday, August 26th, early. After that, it’s a long stretch of poor conditions. But hey, it’s a consistent area – forecasts can change, so keep an eye out.
