Praia de Camburi Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s cooking at Praia de Camburi.

Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – the next 16 days are looking pretty flat and ordinary. We’ve got a long stretch of small, weak surf with only a few moments that are barely worth a mention. The first recommendation doesn't kick in until Monday afternoon, August 3rd, and even then, it’s a slow start.

The water is sitting at 73°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there.

Monday afternoon, August 3rd, we see a small 3ft ESE swell creeping in with a short 8-second period. The combined energy is only 177, so it’s weak. There’s a cross-off wind from the ENE at 12 mph, which keeps the surface clean, but the waves are just poor. It’s a beginner-friendly break, sheltered from the south, but the quality is lacking.

Tuesday, August 4th, and Wednesday, August 5th, offer up a similar story. We get surfable but very ordinary conditions with 3ft to 4ft easterly swells, periods around 7 to 8 seconds, and moderate offshore winds. The energy bumps up a bit to 215 on Wednesday morning, but it’s still weak. The waves are just limp and unexciting – not worth rushing out for.

Then it really drops off. From Thursday, August 6th, all the way through to Tuesday, August 11th, we’re looking at tiny waves – 1ft or less – with long periods but no power. The combined energy dips as low as 4 on Saturday, August 8th. There’s a glassy morning on Monday, August 10th, with offshore winds, but the swell is just 1ft from the SSE. Clean, yes, but you’ll be bobbing around without a wave to ride. This is a real lull.

Wednesday, August 12th, brings a little bump in height to 4ft, but it’s a short-period, 6-second SSE windswell, with cross-shore winds. The sea will be lumpy and messy – not a paddle-surfing day. Honestly, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than a traditional paddle session.

The only real standout in this whole forecast comes on Thursday morning, August 13th. We get a 2ft SSE groundswell with a 12-second period, and the combined energy is 199. The wind is light and cross-off from the NNE, which should keep things clean. The swell direction is from the SSE, which matches the optimum direction for this break. It’s small, but it’s the best wave quality we’ll see. Crowds are sometimes an issue here, so you might have some company.

After that, we drift back into the doldrums. Friday, August 14th, through Tuesday, August 18th, is mostly small, weak, and inconsistent. Saturday morning, August 15th, has a glassy 2ft SSE swell with a 14-second period, and the energy is 167 – it’s surfable but very ordinary. The same goes for Sunday, August 16th. The last few days are just tiny, with no power.

So, to wrap it up: the best bet is Thursday morning, August 13th at Praia de Camburi. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s the cleanest and most surfable we’ll get. The swell is 2ft from the SSE, with light offshore winds. For the rest of the period, prepare for flat spells and closeouts. This is a quiet stretch.
