Table - best surf conditions forecast for Prainha over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Prainha's got cookin' for us over the next couple of weeks.
Right now, there's not a whole lot to get excited about. The surf is real small and the conditions are messy. It's gonna be a bit of a slow start with a few days of nothing special before we see some real action.
Starting off Saturday the 11th, it's pretty marginal. We've got a weak 3ft swell from the ESE at a long 13 seconds, but a light cross-onshore wind from the NE messes it up. The combined energy is weak (269), so it's not really worth paddling out for. Sunday the 12th cleans up a bit in the morning with a light offshore from the SW and a clean 3ft ESE swell (period 12 secs). That's your first real chance for a session, but it's still small. The afternoon turns a bit bumpy with a cross-offshore wind.
Now, here's where it gets interesting. Monday the 13th morning is the first standout. We've got a solid pulse of swell building to 6ft from the SSE. The period is a short 8 seconds, so it's a bit of a windswell, but the wind is light and offshore from the SW, making it clean. The combined energy is moderate (570), and it's going to be *very good*. This is an advanced break so that size is perfect for the experienced crew, but beginners, it's going to be a bit heavy.
The rest of the week stays fun. Tuesday morning the 14th is clean again with a 4ft SE swell and a light cross-offshore wind. But the real gem of the week might be Tuesday afternoon. The wind goes glassy as can be, dead calm from the ESE, and the swell holds at 4ft with a nice 11-second period. It'll be clean as a whistle and the combined energy is a solid 389. That's a session you'll remember.
Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th are a bit of a mixed bag. Wednesday gets blown out by a moderate cross-onshore wind. Thursday morning, though, delivers again. Thursday morning the 16th has glassy conditions with a light offshore from the W, and a 4ft swell from the ESE at a longer 12-second period. The combined energy jumps to 459. That’s another beautiful, clean morning for the advanced crew.
Friday the 17th is similar – clean in the morning with light cross-offshore winds and a 4ft E swell – but it gets lumpy in the afternoon.
Then we hit a dry spell. From Saturday the 18th all the way through to Saturday the 25th, the swell drops right off. We're looking at tiny waves, mostly under 3ft, with very low combined energy (mostly below 200, often below 100). It’s a long, flat stretch. The mornings are glassy with a 3ft to 3ft E swell, but it's barely surfable. Conditions are "ordinary" at best. This is just one of those blank runs for the area.
But hold on, the forecast is pointing to a return of real swell at the very end of the window. Sunday morning the 26th, we get a new pulse of 4ft swell from the SE at a long 12 seconds, with a clean cross-offshore wind. The combined energy is a solid 492, and conditions are good. That's your bet for the second week. The afternoon gets a little hairy with a strong cross-shore wind, but the morning session looks promising.
And for the water temp, it's sitting at 64°, which is pretty much average for the time of year – no major surprises there.
So, to wrap it up: the best waves on offer are Monday morning the 13th, Tuesday afternoon the 14th, and Thursday morning the 16th. After that, it’s a long flat stretch until Sunday morning the 26th. Keep an eye on that one, but the longer-range stuff is always a bit of a gamble.
Stay wet,
Rusty
